Before You Leave the Property: Final Inspection Check

Use this final pass after the planned inspection sequence and before packing equipment. It is a memory aid, not a substitute for the assignment, safety rules, training, carrier instructions, or professional judgment.

Reconcile the inspection

• Walk the same exterior and interior route one last time when access and conditions allow.
• Confirm every area named in the assignment is either inspected or clearly marked inaccessible, unsafe, not present, or outside the assignment.
• Compare the room, elevation, slope, and component labels in notes, measurements, sketches, and photographs. Resolve naming drift now.
• Check that overview photographs establish location before detail photographs show condition.
• Revisit transitions: roof-to-wall, wall-to-grade, openings, penetrations, adjoining rooms, and the path between an observed condition and its possible source.

Close information gaps

• Identify measurements that are missing, estimated, or taken by a method that needs explanation.
• Separate what you observed from what an occupant, contractor, or other person reported.
• Record material uncertainty without converting it into a conclusion.
• Confirm that temporary protection or mitigation observed is documented without disturbing it.
• Capture model/serial labels only when relevant, permitted, and safe to reach.

Close the visit

• Account for tools, ladders, covers, meters, chargers, and personal protective equipment.
• Confirm that no temporary marker or inspection item was left behind.
• Preserve files in the authorized system; do not leave claim material in personal camera rolls, consumer sync, text threads, or community tools.
• Record the next required action and who owns it. Do not promise coverage, payment, scheduling, or an outcome you do not control.

Thirty-second self-test

Can another authorized reviewer tell what was inspected, what was not, what is observed, what is reported, what remains uncertain, and what must happen next? If not, fix the gap while the property and the inspection sequence are still fresh.
